15 years after NATO’s invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, the 9/11 and Al Qaeda lies that were used to justify the war have disappeared. Now the truth about oil and gas, mineral wealth, opium and naked imperial ambition are all that remain.

| 15 June 2016 | The war in on Afghanistan — America’s longest conflict — will grind on for at least another four years as NATO allies are prepared to commit $5 billion through 2020 to train, equip and pay Afghan security forces, according to a senior NATO diplomat. Last week, President Obama granted U.S. troops in Afghanistan expanded authority to attack Taliban insurgents. The new rules allow U.S. forces to advise regular Afghan combat units and to call in airstrikes…The new expanded authorities will give U.S. commanders in Afghanistan more flexibility, by allowing them to identify and get pre-approval for air targets in advance, instead of just responding to emergencies, Gen. Mark Welsh, the Air Force chief of staff, told reporters in Washington.

‘This month marks the one year anniversary of the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 – an incident that took place against a backdrop of a brutal proxy war – pitting Kiev and its supporters in Washington DC, the EU and NATO – against rebel forces in eastern Ukraine and Russia. As with most 21st century conflicts, truth has been the first casualty of war here.

Last July, 21WIRE released its own preliminary investigation into the disaster. That post still remains one of the most successful articles in the site’s history. One year on, we’ll revisit and review many of those key points and attempt many of the reamining unanswered questions…’

‘In a military victory that may very well rival the liberation of Qusayr in terms of significance, on February 17, the SAA officially encircled the entirety of Syria’s largest city Aleppo. In so doing, the SAA was also able to seal off the road leading into the city from the North which has been used as a supply route for the terrorist death squads receiving reinforcements and supplies from Turkey since the beginning of the crisis.

While not controlled by the Western-backed terrorist forces entirely, large portions of Aleppo have fallen under death squad control since NATO began backing jihadists forces in earnest in 2010. The Syrian military has long sought to establish control over the entirety of the city and, over the last several months, the SAA has been fighting to do just that. Over the last few weeks, however, the SAA was able to win a number of key battles and take control over a several key villages that enabled it to position itself all the way around Aleppo.

The encirclement of Aleppo comes as the SAA has launched a new offensive against death squad forces in the south, near the occupied Golan Heights and the Syrian/Israeli border.’

http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/02/ukraine-target-civilians-separatists-targeting-maps-prove.html

The pro-regime Ukrainian TV station Hromandske TV — which is funded by the U.S. Government, the Dutch Government, and George Soros (via his International Renaissance Foundation or ‘Fund’) —  has reported that the Ukrainian Government is specifically targeting civilians to die in the Donbass region in the former Ukraine’s southeast. It’s being done in order “to clean the cities.”

This is open acknowledgement that the operation, which the U.S. is financing (and Ukraine is bankrupt so it can never reimburse its donors), is actually an ethnic-cleansing campaign.

Previously, on Hromadske TV, a proponent of doing just that (ethnic cleansing) was interviewed. He said: “If we take, for example, just the Donetsk oblast, there are approximately 4 million inhabitants, at least 1.5 million of which are superfluous. … Donbass must be exploited as a resource, which it is. … The most important thing that must be done — no matter how cruel it may sound — is that there is a certain category of people that must be exterminated.”

Here is how it’s done:

[9 September 2014, from Slavyangrad, pro-separatists’ clips are shown, taken from pro-Ukrainian-Government telecasts] Video of Commander of the Ukrainian Government’s volunteer battalion ’Shaktarsk,’ Ruslan Onishchenko: “Our mission, being employees of the Ministry of the Interior, is to clean the cities, after the army has ‘worked’ this territory with aircraft, artillery and heavy military equipment. This is a normal tactical approach to warfare.”

Retired Col. General Vladimir Ruban, interviewed on the pro-Ukrainian-Government Hromadske TV, then says: “I want to offer the Ukrainian artillerists medals, to those who shell the city [Donetsk], the houses and the civilian population, … for they [artillerists] have deserved it [medals], both because of the accuracy and inaccuracy. … It’s one thing if attack groups or any mobile mortar troops drive through the city and shoot, … but if the artillery units fired from the airport [i.e., from the distance], then no one can claim that the separatists shoot themselves [i.e., that the people who are being killed in the city are victims of separatist troops mistakenly hitting passers-by when aiming at Government troops. He is saying that artillerists will clearly get the blame, whereas street-fighters can always blame the ‘terrorists.’]. … The shelling there is done as intimidation, … not just object destruction, but intimidation [to get the population to flee to nearby Russia]. The civilian population is intimidated by a chaotic bombardment of different objects. There are many shells that plug directly into the streets or vegetable gardens [and so make the very ground on which these people live terrifying to them]. INTERVIEWER: This refers to those that didn’t explode? ANSWER:  Yes, … there are many of those, … shells that fail to detonate. But Gorlowka has been fortunate to have not yet been totally eradicated from the face of the earth, along with the civilian population. INTERVIEWER: You mean that the city is bombarded violently? ANSWER: Gorlowka was shelled by our troops, [even] as I went there for the prisoner exchange. Although  it was known that I was there, they [our troops] kept up the bombardment of Gorlowka.

General Ruban might not have know it at the time of his interview, but on February 1st, Life News in Russia bannered “Militia DNR: Ukrainian Army Uses US Missiles,” and reported that in Gorlovka were found “shells that do not belong to Ukrainian artillery, and even more so do not use Soviet or post-Soviet military equipment. According to their hypothesis, the weapons are from NATO. Deputy brigade commander Army DNR [Donetsk People’s Republic] callsign ‘Biker’ showed shells and said that … this is a special projectile 155 caliber self-propelled artillery of the M109 A1 American production, which is used by NATO countries.” Furthermore, “The presence of foreigners in their army and radio intercepts confirms our intelligence when we hear in interceptions, phrases in English and Polish.” Germany’s Bild, and Britain’s Mail, are also among the international news organizations that have previously reported on American mercenaries, including the former notorious Blackwater organization, ‘advising’ the Ukrainian army in this war. The finding of U.S. military provisions on the battlefields in Donbass is, furthermore, routine; but U.S. soldiers, like Russian ones, are probably not fighting there. Ukraine is only a proxy war between the two major nuclear powers, not yet a direct war between the nuclear powers.

Within just the past few days, further video evidence was uploaded which indicates that the targeting of civilians is a central purpose of the U.S.-funded Ukrainian war campaign:

[29 January 2015] The journalists of Ren TV [a major Russian network, privately owned by Russian aristocrats] today received the first documentary evidence that residential areas of Donbass [the rebelling region of the former Ukraine; the farthest-east part of Ukraine, shown here in the darkest purple] are being targeted. Although Kiev may claim that ‘stray shells’ hit a hospital or a kindergarten, we have found on the front line that is being left behind by departing Ukrainian soldiers, artillery maps, where the targets were restaurants, cafeterias and shops. Here is an exclusive report by our correspondent Valentin Trushin from the former UAF’s [Ukrainian Armed Forces} trenches:

This is a field near the village of Ozeryanovka, from which recently was a Ukrainian battery firing at Gorlovka: … [The rebel soldier says that many of these abandoned tanks and other weapons are undamaged, and ‘They will say tomorrow that Russia supplied them to us, but it’s actually their equipment that will be repaired if necessary but will be used at war against them.’ Views of Government-destroyed Gorlovka are shown.] … In the [rebel-]destroyed dugouts were found … notebooks of cannon commanders, maps. The documents show that shelling of the city [by the Government] was not random, but deliberate. The coordinates of the targets are shown. For examples, one is a restaurant, another a cafeteria or a market where no militiamen were stationed. … Here are their target-maps, … irrefutable evidence of war crimes.

Little over a month ago, a rebel commander explained why the Ukrainian armed forces are losing:

[13 Dec. 2014, from Cassad TV in Crimea, run by a man whom the U.S. aristocracy describe as being a far-right Marxist

“How the Elite UA [Ukrainian Army] Troops Were Defeated by the Militia. Interview with Commander Kedr” (head of the anti-Ukrainian-Government Semyonovka battalion in the outskirts of Slovyansk): How did you manage to defeat them? ANSWER: The most surprising thing is that they were eliminated by the [rebel] militias, who haven’t graduated from any military academies. Many of them haven’t even served in the army before. The majority of them had only for the very first time recently taken weapons in their hands [they hadn’t previously owned or used even a gun]. I think that victory … [resulted from] … the high motivation of our troops, and it was guaranteed by the high morale, the example that was being given by the commanders who were taking part in the fight themselves. It provided such a result. Good trophies [weapons] were captured then, … [and it even] happened before the Ilovaisk cauldron [when the enemy was encircled], and at a time when the situation was very difficult for the militias themselves, … [so] there was only one injured soldier from our side in that battle, but from the enemy’s side were killed 15-12 men, practically all of them [that were fighting]. … Six [of them] were taken captive. [The battlefield is shown with enemy corpses]. … Our unit arrived to collect the corpses of two of their shot-down pilots. But the enemy managed to save one of their pilots. I repeat: Our troops weren’t professional military but people like miners and trolley-bus drivers. [3:17] I’d say to Ukrainian mothers that our soldiers have nowhere to retreat from their own land, while the enemy have a chance to turn around and go home.

[4:14: video is shown of the enemy’s combat ration.] It’s an American combat ration.

The actual reason why this southeast-Ukrainian ethnic-cleansing campaign is necessary for Obama, who installed the current regime in Ukraine, is that, if it is not done, and, if the people who lived and voted in the Donbass region (Ukraine’s far-east) were still to remain there and allowed to vote there as being citizens of Ukraine, then they would vote at least 90% against the regime’s candidates, and for moderates, because, even before the regime had started to exterminate these people, they had voted 90% for Viktor Yanukovych in the last democratic Ukraine-wide Presidential election (which was back in 2010), and he was the very same man whom Obama overthrew. Now, after this extermination-campaign, the vote there against the Obama stooges would be virtually 100% — not just 90%.

In other words: Obama needs to get rid of those people. They can die, or else they can flee to Russia, but Obama needs them gone from Ukraine.

As regards why Obama had wanted their land to begin with, it was because unless the gas and other assets in the ground there can be privatized or sold off by the Ukrainian Government to pay its debts, the Ukrainian Government will go bankrupt and become an enormous drag on everyone who had previously lent to it, including the U.S., IMF, EU, World Bank, and others (ironically including even Russia).

Now that the situation is becoming increasingly clear that this land will not be able to be controlled by the Ukrainian Government, Obama’s best bet (in terms of his objectives) is to allow the war simply to end with Ukraine’s defeat, so that no more good money will go to Ukraine after the previous bad money is thus lost, but just cut the losses and bring this truncated and rabidly anti-Russian western half of Ukraine into NATO for the goal that is, apparently, Obama’s top foreign-policy objective: surrounding Russia with U.S. nuclear missiles and with regimes that hate Russia, in order to get Russia’s capitulation to America’s aristocracy.

Vladimir Putin wants Donbass to instead remain a part of Ukraine, as a counter-weight there against the rabidly anti-Russian voters in Ukraine’s western region, so as to produce yet another Yanukovych-like leadership in Ukraine and thus reduce the likelihood of a global nuclear war (which would be Russia’s only alternative if Obama were to succeed in his surround-Russia-with-missiles plan).

After all: John Fitzgerald Kennedy didn’t like it when the Soviet Union in 1962 tried to place nuclear missiles in just one location near the U.S.: Cuba. For Putin, Ukraine is like a nuclear Cuba was to America, but more like around ten nuclear Cubas, in Russia’s case. For Ukraine to join NATO would, perhaps, alone be sufficient threat to Russia so as to produce an immediate Russian nuclear attack against the U.S. and other NATO nations (a pre-emptive Russian attack, against us). The insane ones there would be the U.S. and any nation that supports it — the nations that then are clearly aiming to ‘conquer’ Russia. The U.S., under Kennedy, refused to stand for it in reverse; and Russia, under Putin or any other leader, shouldn’t stand for it, either. NATO needs to end, immediately. It had started as an anti-communist club, and was then valid; but what it was and is after the end of the Soviet Union, is the greatest threat to the entire world. It is now nothing but an anti-Russian club: not just insane, but also evil.

The only beneficiaries of today’s NATO are the West’s arms-merchants and other military suppliers. For everybody else, it’s catastrophe waiting to happen.

So: that’s the reason why the United States has been supporting (and, until now, even demanding) an ethnic-cleansing campaign in the former Ukraine. It’s part of the evil and supremely dangerous insanity that is NATO.

The lands of all the world have always been the reality beneath all the wealth which has given rise to the imbalance of Ninety-Nine to One.

The supposed ‘wealth-creators’ are producing global-poverty instead of prosperity by attacking the planet. As global-predators they’ve decided to kill the 99% that are the renters and the debtors who pay for their own slavery…

The New World Order Revealed
http://www.rense.com/general96/nworevealed.html

The Vatican has claimed global-ownership of all the land, this defines the “How & Why” of the New Global Feudalism. And this is what has driven Agenda 21, brought to us by the UN and NATO, who are actively engaged as global-military-enforcers. In Ukraine: “The Russian president says Kiev’s troops are essentially a foreign NATO legion, which doesn’t act in Ukraine’s national interests”, thus officially labeling the UN & NATO as outlaw-aggressors in the illegal war against the people of Ukraine.

The greater the concentration of the wealth by the 1%, the more taxes are paid by the 99%. The debtors and the renters BTW get none of the benefits which these draconian taxes pay for: While the filthy-rich profit from every bail-out of the banks, which cover their debts and bury the accounts of those which the supposed ‘bailouts’ were hypothetically created to benefit Yet the DEBTS are kept on the books and the middle class is forced to pay for them again!

The untouchable one percent does not really earn their “income” they profit mostly from the Capital Gains. The rich buy the politicians and control the governments in order to qualify as being “Too Big to Jail”. They bought control of the courts and the just-us systems which they’ve been allowed to do: While as “insiders” they’ve also been allowed to profit directly from insider-trading, while for the rest of us that practice is totally illegal. By buying up the government the 1% has been able to buy the public domain, which the public created and paid for decades ago.

The one-percent is fond of claiming to be anti-big-government. But when it comes to all those non-existent taxes most of them not only do NOT pay, but many of those corporations actually get rebates for all the trouble they went to, to steal everything.

This continuing practice has turned most of us back into serfs in the New Feudalism which makes the Dickensian World of England look like the global-kindergarten of world poverty that we’ve become.

The world of today is not one of “inequality”. It has instead descended-directly into the nightmare of global-slavery. The 99% are now paying three times for their own enslavement. They pay first in the illegal taxes leveled against them and again when the money goes to the same banks that created the illegal-debts which their savings are being stolen to pay for in the guise of a bail-out. That’s the second-time: The third time happens because the public’s “debt” is not removed from the books. This chain of events was just broken today by Greece who voted to break free from this living hell by ‘ending austerity’, to create a new way to sustain themselves against the highway-robbery that has been masquerading as ‘one-world-government’ for the last five years. Socialism for the Rich and Global Vulture Capitalism for the poor in every country that’s the mantra! Google “Corporate Welfare” if you don’t believe me.

“When Politicians and the Media work side-by-side: The jokes they create, at our expense, are all on us” RT

This ‘New Feudalism’ is the only ‘reality’ today…

Wealth Abyss:

There’s an additional irony in all of this. If people could still read or be able to write there would be a huge market for a new board-game.

Back during the Market Crash of 1929, the Game of Monopoly was created to explain the evils behind ‘the banks’ to the public. A few years passed and then the hugely popular board-game was purchased by Parker-Brothers where it was converted to escape the original reason for its creation. The ‘new’ Monopoly venerated capitalism and actually taught the public how to “acquire properties”, amass wealth and “Get Out of Jail Free”. The Robber Barons in exile loved it!

In fact in many of the current day yuppiedom coffee shops they delight in using names that worship those bygone days. On Polk Street in the city, one of those shops is called “The Robber Baron”, and another within the same block I live on, is called “Contraband” just to give you a taste of what’s going on.

While the artificial names point to a much different time; there are no conversations going on inside those shops. The “coffee” is more expensive than the booze their exclusivity eliminated but the places themselves are as dead as the inside of eighteenth century cemeteries. Talking is frowned on and the only sounds heard are the clicking of computer keyboards.

At the bank: Some tellers tell me they cannot read my checks because I “write” the names of the people the checks are made out to. Cursive writing is becoming obsolete, just like that typewriter above. Consequently the ‘revised form of Monopoly’, that I would dearly love to create, would not be able to make it now: Because it would be in direct competition with all the murder, rape and torture which has stolen the “games divisions” that once involved games that were based on thought and interaction with other people.

Even the number of those who “REMEMBER” what it was like to live in this country when there was no censorship and still a bit of freedom in most places are dying out. Everyone dies! But when this place allowed the new Robber-Barons to steal all our freedoms, there was a death-sentence passed: Not just against creatures of my age, but against the entire world that can no longer remember what real life and real freedom were all about…

‘Regrettably, the government in Kiev has refused to take the road of a peaceful settlement and does not want to resolve the problem through political means. First they used the law enforcement agencies, then the security services, and then the army. Later, when they ran up against resistance, they suspended military operations, but sadly, they only used the temporary peace to regroup and then start their operations again. They are pursuing these operations again now. Thousands of people have already been killed. This is certainly a real tragedy.

We often speak of the ‘Ukrainian army’, but who is doing the fighting there in reality? Yes, in part it is official armed forces units, but a substantial part of those doing the fighting come from the so-called volunteer nationalist battalions. Essentially, this is not an army but is a foreign legion, in this particular case, a NATO foreign legion, which is not pursuing Ukraine’s national interests of course. They have completely different goals, related to achieving their geopolitical aim of containing Russia, and this is absolutely not in the Ukrainian people’s national interests.’

Moscow slams NATO’s accusations of invasion in Ukraine as groundless

12 Nov 2014 Russia has denied NATO claims that its army has crossed into eastern Ukraine in the past few days, calling them groundless, the Defense Ministry said. “We have stopped paying attention to the groundless accusations made by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, US General Philip Breedlove, of the ‘observed’ Russian military columns allegedly invading Ukraine,” said Defense Ministry official representative, General-Major Igor Konashenkov on Wednesday. He gave a reminder of earlier and similar NATO claims, which have not been backed by any evidence.

When there are no successes to point towards as a reason to be confident in one’s government, the Great Father can be counted on to use fear of a scary enemy to rally the people. A lie can go around the world twice before the truth has even tied its shoes. The Great Father knows this and he also knows that it’s best to have a few enemies waiting in the wings to distract the American people. To be sure, certain among the American people (the species Ovis aries americanus) will fall for this every time. Which is why it remains effective and American foreign policy infomercials succeed in selling wars without genuine objectives. In fact, were U.S. foreign policy a product, it would be sold on late-night infomercials along with spray-on “hair”, vegetable slicers, and compilation CDs of 1970s hits. And if you purchased it, you would get a few wars, absolutely free. Let’s have a look at some of the Great Father’s latest products.

First up, we see “frightening” reports from the Great Father and NATO (North Atlantic Tubthumping Oligarchy) that the Russians are getting frequent-flier miles close to NATO and U.S. airspace. Why, look at that! The Great Father and NATO were just minding their own business trying to lure Ukraine into the car with promises of candy when here came the Russians to interfere! Those Russian waskally wabbits are making NATO fighter aircraft look like Elmer Fudd! Excuse me, Great Father, but those are your enemies, not mine. Vladimir Putin and the Russians have not threatened me, nor are they saying they want me to live under the Russian government. Nor do they pick my pockets, which is more than I can say for you, Great Father. The reason Russian aircraft are doing this, Great Father, is because you are provoking them over in Ukraine. By the way, the Russians warned you against doing that. So Russian aircraft are lurking around NATO airspace, so what? Am I supposed to be afraid of this?

Second, we’re told Vladimir Putin is a pretty scary guy. I dunno, Great Father, I think he seems like a cool dude compared to you. I think we should settle it once and for all. Instead of dragging us all into this Great Father feelings of inadequacy issue, I think the Great Father should challenge Putin to a martial arts match. It would be entertaining and, man, put that on TV and you’d finally have something worth watching! The Great Father will lose, of course, and that’s why I’d watch it. It’d be interesting to see who’s the tough guy without an army to hide behind. I’m not afraid of Vladimir Putin because he hasn’t given me any reason to be. It’s pretty much a given. Putin doesn’t tell me what to do with my own backyard and I don’t tell him what to do with his. Putin has kept the peace while the Great Father and the NATO tubthumpers are just itching to start a war. All Putin is doing is standing up to the Great Father. Am I supposed to be afraid of this?

Next, we have the ISIS junior varsity team running amok. Pardon me Great Father, weren’t they your solution as to who needed to replace Bashar al-Assad in Syria? Why can’t you leave well enough alone? I know your narcissistic tendencies lead you to thinking you know who and who is not a “legitimate leader”, but you should bear something else in mind. When recently asked if you still planned to depose Assad, you said that you don’t think he is a “legitimate leader”. Guess what, Great Father? Many of us think the same about you. The most recent knee-slapper, probably from the U.S. Office of Disinformation, was some ISIS flunky saying ISIS will put the U.S. under Sharia law. Once I stopped laughing, I had to wonder if ISIS is using the same hallucinogens as the Great Father. They’d have less success with that than the Great Father did with Obamacare. “If you like your Sharia, you can keep it…”  You can tell they’ve definitely been talking to the Great Father when you see the grandiose yet bizarre, half-baked plans they’ve got. What, I’m supposed to be afraid of these delusional clowns? Americans would drive a hundred miles for a couple shots at an ISIS militia on U.S. soil, are you kidding me? ISIS wouldn’t survive two hours in some downtown areas of major U.S. cities. ISIS may get away with what they do in Syria and Iraq. But this isn’t Syria or Iraq. Am I supposed to be afraid of this?

This brings us to Bashar al-Assad himself. Why am I supposed to be afraid of this man, Great Father? He never bothered me. Not once was there ever junk mail from him in my mailbox asking for my vote. He didn’t demand I enroll in Obamacare or pay a penalty, he didn’t appoint some unqualified guy as an Ebola Czar who has yet to show up at meetings, you know what I’m saying here? Basically, the man was not and is not bothering me, which is more than I can say for you, Great Father. I’m not Syrian, so it isn’t up to me to tell Assad how to run his country. It isn’t up to you, either, Great Father. Assad cracked down on dissidents, you say? So, Great Father, what would your reaction be if tens of thousands of Americans showed up in the streets and demanded your removal from office and the government gone? Somehow, I suspect riot police, troops, and tanks would be rolled out. Assad is the elected leader of Syria, whether you like it or not, Great Father. Am I supposed to be afraid of this?

The Great Father tells us we need to be very afraid of men like Vladimir Putin and Bashar al-Assad. But neither one of these men is threatening Americans. In the case of Putin, he is reacting to the threats NATO and the U.S. are making over Ukraine. To be sure, if the situations were reversed and a hostile nation was trying to corral Mexico into their defense alliance, we’d have already invaded Mexico in “pre-emption”. We’d call that “defending U.S. interests”. In fact, we already did that in a way. That’s how we ended up with the American Southwest, which once belonged to Mexico until after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. That ended the Mexican-American War and the U.S. got California, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, the entirety of Texas, and more. Regions that were rich in silver and gold, by the way. But no one else is allowed to do that, you see. The Great Father had his Manifest Destiny, but no one else better try that. Putin has a long way to go before he can top what we pulled off in the Mexican-American War.

As far as Assad goes, he’s defending himself against the people we armed to topple him. What would the U.S. do in his shoes? The same. And we have. Remember the Civil War? We talk about all the people Assad has killed and here we are not even knowing how many died exactly in our Civil War. It was between 400,000 and 600,000 people, we’re still not sure. No UN inspectors have ever showed up to exhume our mass graves. And we wiped out cities, too, in case anyone forgot Sherman’s March to the Sea. Plus, POW camps that were nothing more than concentration camps. So, who are we to tell Assad what “excesses” are in his civil war? Don’t forget we were killing each other with single-shot muzzleloading muskets and cannon and look at our impressive number of dead. The Syrian Civil War has been going on for almost as long as our Civil War and they’ve got about 200,000 total deaths using modern weaponry. If anyone is better at mass killing in a civil war, it’s us, not Assad. Poor Assad, if only he was the Great Father’s buddy, we could really show him how to wage a civil war and stop being such an amateur. Because if that was us having another civil war, we’d already be into the millions of dead. And we’d re-enact it for the next hundred years, too, just for fun. Assad is a lightweight.

Nah, I don’t think I see anything worth being afraid of. The Great Father is just being paranoid, as usual. If he really wanted to make a splash, he’d start selling his expertise in these affairs. He’d say, “Oh, come on Assad! What are you holding back for?! Why, in our Civil War if we had the weapons you have, we’d have already killed at least two million people by now! What’s the matter with you? Look, for a price, I’ll show you how a REAL civil war is fought! I have all the Union Army generals’ diaries over there in the Smithsonian!”  Then he could tell Putin, “No, no, no, you’re doing this all wrong! The trick is to goad the Ukrainians into attacking you. Then you invade them and make them give you half of Ukraine as the peace settlement! You see? Look, I have all the Mexican-American War documents over there in the Smithsonian. For a price, I’ll let you see how this thing is done right.”

Do as I say, not as I do. Thus sayeth the Great Father.

Beware of the Chameleon

By Wayne Madsen

The 10-day NATO exercise code named BREEZE 2014 has ended in Black Sea. The exercise, which included the use of electronic warfare and electronic intelligence aircraft such as the Boeing EA-18G Growler and the Boeing E3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), coincided with the shoot down of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 in eastern Ukraine, some 40 miles from the Russian border. NATO ships and aircraft had the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under total radar and electronic surveillance.

MH-17 was shot down over a region where Russian-speaking separatist forces have been battling against the alliance of the Ukrainian armed forces and a private mercenary force answerable to a Ukrainian-Jewish billionaire oligarch.

The U.S. Army has revealed that the 10-day exercise involved «commercial traffic monitoring». Because of the sophistication of the electronic warfare and intelligence used during SEA BREEZE, it can be assumed that commercial traffic monitoring included monitoring the track of MH-17.

Past NATO-Ukraine exercises in Crimea were called SEA BREEZE. This year’s annual SEA BREEZE exercise with Ukraine, approved by the rump Ukrainian Parliament, is clouded in mystery with the Pentagon saying “it was only in the planning stage and we can’t announce dates yet“. However, 200 U.S. Army personnel normally assigned to bases in Germany were in Ukraine during the time of the MH-17 fly-over. They were participating in NATO exercise RAPID TRIDENT II. Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense led the exercise.

BREEZE included the AEGIS-class guided missile cruiser USS Vela Gulf.  AEGIS cruisers’ AN/SPY 1 radar has the ability to track all aircraft over a large region. For example, the AEGIS test center in Moorestown, New Jersey, was able to see the Boeing 747 TWA Flight 800 when it disappeared from radar screens in 1996 near East Moriches Bay, Long Island. According to Lockheed Martin personnel who operated the AEGIS test center in New Jersey, the Navy ordered the SPY 1 radar turned off for «maintenance» shortly before the downing of TWA 800.

From the Black Sea, the Vela Gulf was able to track Malaysian Airlines 17 over the Black Sea and any missiles fired at the plane. U.S. AWACS electronic intelligence (ELINT) aircraft were also flying over the Black Sea region at the time of the MH-17 flyover of Ukraine. Growler aircraft have the capability to jam radar systems in all surface-to-air threats.

The announcement of U.S. BREEZE and RAPID TRIDENT II military maneuvers came on May 21, 2014, and were announced on the website operated by Vice President Joe Biden’s office. Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is a newly-named director of the Ukrainian natural gas and oil company Burisma Holdings, Ltd., owned by Ihor Kolomoisky, the Ukrainian-Israeli mafia oligarch, whose is known as the Chameleon. Kolomoisky has raised his own mercenary army, complete with the BUK missiles allegedly used in the shoot down of MH-17. Kolomoisky, the Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, has threatened terrorist attacks against Russian-speaking officials in eastern Ukraine, including assassinations.

Not really news at all, but: CIA reportedly employed several operatives, warlords and militant leaders deeply involved in Afghan opium trade

Reports say US-led NATO forces are taxing the production of opium in the regions under their control.

20 Mar 2014 A senior western audit officer has raised fresh concerns that US funds meant to help pay Afghan police salaries may instead be going to “ghost workers”. “I am writing to express my concern that the US may be unwittingly helping to pay the salaries of non-existent members of the Afghan National Police,” John Sopko, the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction wrote in recent letter to top US-led NATO generals… Afghan officials accuse the US of channeling funds to the Taliban militant group. Afghan lawmakers say American helicopters have recently delivered several shipments of small arms and heavy weapons to the militants in southern provinces. Senior officials in Kabul have also demanded an explanation from Washington over its aid to the Taliban…In addition to that, the Afghan counter-narcotics officials say foreign troops are also earning money from drug production in Afghanistan.

[Darn those pesky deficits that the Teabaggers/DemocRATs whine about 24/7! And yet: There seems to be a bottomless pit of US tax dollars available to protect the CIA’s heroin trade, arm the Taliban, fund the Nazi coup in the Ukraine, pay for IsraHell’s Iron Dome, and provide even more tax breaks and bl*w jobs for Exxon Mobil.]

As the US and the European Union impose sanctions on 21 officials from Russia and Ukraine for helping the people of Crimea to make a democratic choice to become a part of the Russian Federation, one specific question arises – where were all the sanctions when the West was carrying out genuinely illegal wars and interventions that resulted in destruction and thousands of innocent civilians being killed?

Unlike Russia, which has not fired one single shot in Crimea, nor has been seen as an invader by the people of Crimea, the West, primarily the United States and NATO countries, have caused havoc and destruction all over the world with little or no repercussions. Below are just three examples which warrant toughest sanctions to be imposed on Western powers.

The Iraq War

The Lancet journal in 2006 published an estimate of 654,965 excess Iraqi deaths related to the war of which 601,027 were caused by violence. In terms of financial costs, the non-partisan Congressional Research Service estimates that the US will have spent almost $802bn (£512.8bn) on funding the war by the end of fiscal year 2011, with $747.6bn (£478bn) already appropriated. The dire consequences of Western invasion continued way beyond 2003. Sectarian violence in the conflict began to grow from early 2005. But the destruction of an important Shia shrine in February 2006 saw attacks between Sunni and Shia militias increase dramatically. This caused many Iraqi families to abandon their homes and move to other areas within the country or to flee abroad. The International Organization for Migration, IOM, which monitors numbers of displaced families, estimates that in the four years 2006-2010, as many as 1.6 million Iraqis were internally displaced, representing 5.5% of the population.

 Libyan Bloody intervention

The intervention in Libya was supposed to be about saving lives and protecting civilians from the murdered Colonel Gaddafi. Instead it quickly became a catastrophe. Firstly, it is important to note that NATO acted completely outside its mandate. Secondly, just as currently in Syria, the West supported vile and blood thirsty rebels who took it upon themselves to create massacre after massacre. Amnesty International has produced compendious evidence of mass abduction and detention, beating and routine torture, killings and atrocities by the rebel militias Britain, France and the US have backed. Throughout that time African migrants and black Libyans have been subject to a relentless racist campaign of mass detention, lynchings and atrocities on the usually unfounded basis that they have been loyalist mercenaries. What is now known, is that while the death toll in Libya when NATO intervened was perhaps around 1,000-2,000 (judging by UN estimates), eight months later it became more than ten times that figure. Estimates of the numbers of dead range from 10,000 up to 50,000. The National Transitional Council puts the losses at 30,000 dead and 50,000 wounded. Currently, Libya continues to be in a state of anarchy with frequent assassinations, complete lack of security and towns controlled by aggressive militia.

 US Drone Strikes

The impact of President Barack Obama’s drone strikes has been devastating to many communities in Pakistan, Yemen and Afghanistan. In Pakistan alone, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) reports that from June 2004 through mid-September 2012, available data indicate that drone strikes killed 2,562-3,325 people in Pakistan, of whom 474-881 were civilians, including 176 children. TBIJ reports that these strikes also injured an additional 1,228-1,362 individuals. Where media accounts do report civilian casualties, rarely is any information provided about the victims or the communities they leave behind. Furthermore, current US targeted killings and drone strike practices undermine respect for the rule of law and international legal protections and may set dangerous precedents. There is clear doubt on the legality of strikes on individuals or groups not linked to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and who do not pose imminent threats to the US. The US government’s failure to ensure basic transparency and accountability in its targeted killing policies, to provide necessary details about its targeted killing program, or adequately to set out the legal factors involved in decisions to strike hinders necessary democratic debate about a key aspect of US foreign and national security policy.

Typical double standards and hypocrisy

The above three examples clearly illustrate that the West, and especially the United States, has engaged in actions which undoubtedly warrant severe sanctions and even trials in the International Criminal Court. However those involved, such as George Bush, Tony Blair and current British Prime Minister David Cameron have been left untouched. Meanwhile these leaders have been the first to condemn and criticise the actions of Russia that cannot be compared to the atrocities committed by the West. The hypocrisy and double standards are perhaps cliché terms regularly attributed to the West, nevertheless, it is crucial to point out once again the lack of moral ground that the West can stand on when condemning Russia. Until sanctions are imposed on the Western countries that have engaged in atrocious and illegal activities over the last decade, Western powers have no right to speak out against the current crisis in Ukraine.

In late 2004, protests erupted after Viktor Yanukovych won the 2004 Ukrainian Presidential election, with protestors claiming that the vote had been rigged. The protests forced a revote, in which Yanukovych’s rival, Viktor Yuschenko, was elected president. This movement, dubbed the Orange Revolution for the orange ribbons and clothing sported by its members, was one of a series of so-called colour revolutions which swept the former Soviet Republics in the last decade.

The two events are not unrelated. As The Guardian noted at the time of the protests:

“[…]the campaign [Orange Revolution] is an American creation, a sophisticated and brilliantly conceived exercise in western branding and mass marketing that, in four countries in four years, has been used to try to salvage rigged elections and topple unsavoury regimes.[…]The Democratic parrty’s National Democratic Institute, the Republican party’s International Republican Institute, the US state department and USAid are the main agencies involved in these grassroots campaigns as well as the Freedom House NGO and billionaire George Soros’s open society institute.”

So it is not without reason that seasoned political observers looked for outside connections to the recent protests in Ukraine that has, in an almost exact repeat of the 2004 protests, sought to overthrow the elected government of Viktor Yanukovych in order to install Viktor Yuschenko’s political allies. Those connections have not been difficult to find.

Audio of Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland apparently dictating who the US wanted “in” and “out” of the supposedly grassroots-supported interim government only came as a surprise to those who did not believe Washington or its allies in the Washington Consensus were actively involved with the ongoing protests in the country. As did the revelation of her admission last December that the US had already pumped $5 billion into the funding of the Ukrainian opposition.

As did the appearance of confirmed terrorist supporter John McCain at a rally with the leader of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi Svoboda party leader. As did the appointment of a central banker as the interim Prime Minister and his immediate announcement that the country was in talks with the US, EU, and IMF for emergency loans. As did the appearance of a slick new viral propaganda video in English promoting the supposedly grassroots uprising which was immediately exposed as finding its “inspiration” in Council on Foreign Relations member Larry Diamond, who has worked closely with the same N.E.D. and USAID that were linked to the 2004 Orange Revolution.

In the latest startling revelation, Pando.com has published documents implicating the Omidyar Network in the funding of the current Ukrainian protest movement. The Omidyar Network is the NGO of billionaire Ebay co-founder Pierre Omidyar, who recently set up “First Look” as an outlet for (among others) Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill and Laura Poitras to selectively publish some of the Snowden document archive, 99% of which continues to be withheld from the public.

As geopolitical analysts from across the board explain, the Ukrainian coup has been deliberately provoked by outside agents to promote a combination of US, EU, NATO and IMF interests.

Perhaps more worrying than the interference itself are its potential implications. As Russia’s every move is now being scrutinized for a possible military response to the ongoing crisis, the specter of a larger military operation now hangs over Eastern Europe. Part of the decade-long encirclement of Russia by NATO and deliberate provocations on Russia’s doorstep, this process of brinksmanship now threatens to plunge the region into a war the consequences of which cannot be foreseen, let alone contained.

As supposedly “progressive” outlets once again scramble to throw their support behind the billionaire oligarchs and NGOs that have helped to destabilize the country, and as neocons unite with neoliberals in their agenda to carve up Ukraine for western interests, it remains to be seen what genuine alternative outlets will stand up against this blatant interference and stand up for the principle that it is up to the Ukrainian people, and no one else, to decide what happens in their country.
