Chuck Schumer Supported The Ban In 2015. On Sunday, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer cried while describing President Trump, calling his actions “mean spirited and un-American.”
But back in November of 2015 the same Chuck Schumer said that a halt of Syrian refugees may be necessary after the Paris attacks happened that killed well over 100 innocent people.
From The Hill:
Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the third ranking member of the Senate Democratic leadership, on Tuesday said it may be necessary to halt the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the United States.
Republicans immediately seized on Schumer’s comment, which breaks with other Democrats who have argued against halting the program.
Schumer, however, declined to take the option off the table ahead of a special briefing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on the process that is now used to vet refugees entering the United States.
“We’re waiting for the briefing tomorrow, a pause may be necessary. We’re going to look at it,” he said…
Officials with Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have announced that lead levels in the tainted water supply of the city of Flint are now within federal safety standards. However, they also advised residents of the city to avoid the drinking water, until lead-tainted pipes are replaced.
DEQ reported that the drinking water was below lead levels considered dangerous, and thus safe to drink. But the pipes that carried the water may still be contaminated, and must be replaced before officials can safely recommend its consumption.
Some Flint residents remain skeptical. “You cannot tell me the water is safe because you have not tested every home,” local resident Melissa Mays told the AP. “There’s still lead in the system.”
‘George Orwell’s classic book “1984,” about a dystopian future where critical thought is suppressed under a totalitarian regime, has seen a surge in sales this month, rising to the top of the Amazon best-seller list in the United States and leading its publisher to have tens of thousands of new copies printed.
Craig Burke, the publicity director at Penguin USA, said that the publisher had ordered 75,000 new copies of the book this week and that it was considering another reprint.
“We’ve seen a big bump in sales,” Mr. Burke said. He added that the rise “started over the weekend and hit hyperactive” on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Since Friday, the book has reached a 9,500 percent increase in sales, he said.
He said demand began to lift on Sunday, shortly after the interview Kellyanne Conway, an adviser to Donald J. Trump, gave on “Meet the Press.”’
‘The Kingdom of Swaziland in southern Africa has ordered schools across the country to teach only Christianity, a move censured by opponents as inciting anti-Muslim bigotry.
The order went into effect on Tuesday as the new academic year began in Swaziland and officials announced that the old textbooks would be replaced with new ones that will only mention the Bible.
The schools were also instructed to submit a list of “qualified religious studies teachers ahead of the start of term,” AFP reported.
A top education ministry official, identified in the report as Pat Muir, said primary and high schools would not offer other religions.’
‘Australia says it is working to recast the Trans-Pacific Partnership without the US.
Australia is suggesting the idea of a “TPP 12 minus one”, with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull saying his government was in “active discussions” with other signatories including Japan, New Zealand and Singapore on how to save the pact.
“It is possible that US policy could change over time on this, as it has done on other trade deals,” Turnbull told reporters in Canberra. He added that Trump’s nominee for US secretary of state Rex Tillerson and Republicans supported the TPP.’
‘Air travel is becoming ever more hazardous to human health for a host of reasons. Not only are air travelers inhaling high concentrations of toxic particulates as they fly through various layers of solar radiation atmospheric haze (contributing to aerotoxic syndrome impacting passengers and crews), radiation clouds at aviation altitudes also pose a dire threat.
A recently published study in a peer-reviewed journal is now acknowledging the radiation clouds and the dangers they present to air travelers.
Jan. 20, 2017: A new study published in the peer-reviewed journal Space Weather reports the discovery of radiation “clouds” at aviation altitudes. When airplanes fly through these clouds, dose rates of cosmic radiation normally absorbed by air travelers can double or more.’
‘While many adults are currently looking at how to grow their own food, the future may already be in front of our eyes: One school aims to teach kids how to grown their own food as part of a nursery!
A few clever Italians have come up with an amazing proposal, and their design of an innovative nursery school just won them the AWR International Ideas Competition award. Their project, titled “Nursery Fields Forever,” reimagines what nurseries and daycares might look like if their core, central concept was farming and sustainable agriculture. Check out the plans and designs below to get a better idea for how this might work – we think it’s a pretty amazing idea!’
‘In April of last year, Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the House and admitted child rapist, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for paying his victims to keep quiet.
Hastert was sentenced, not for raping children, but for illegally structuring bank transactions in an effort to cover up his sexual abuse of young members of a wrestling team he coached.
Now, this sicko pedophile is trying to get back that hush money. Because one of the boys he raped broke his silence, in spite of the $1.7 million in hush money Hastert gave him, this pedophile politician wants his money back.’
‘Shingles, also known as “zoster” or “herpes zoster,” will affect roughly 1 out of every 3 American adults during their lifetime. Estimates suggest that there are upwards of one million cases of shingles each year in the United States. The disease is caused by dormant varicella zoster virus — the same virus that causes chicken pox. It is fairly well known that a history of having had chicken pox puts you at risk of developing shingles in your elder years.
But, did you know that the shingles vaccine could raise the risk of someone else getting chicken pox?’
‘A nuclear energy company is trying to keep Scotland’s aging power stations open years longer than is allowed under current government regulations.
EDF Energy is asking the UK government’s nuclear watchdog to allow its power station in Hunterston, North Ayrshire, to continue running until it is 47 years old, and its facility in Torness, East Lothian, to remain open until it is 42 years old.
The power plants were designed to last only 30 years, according to investigative news site the Ferret.
The revelation has caused concern among experts and politicians, who fear continued use of the nuclear reactors could put the public at risk.’

Eight men own the same wealth as the 3.6 billion people who make up the poorest half of humanity, according to a new report published by Oxfam today to mark the annual meeting of political and business leaders in Davos.
Oxfam’s report, ‘An economy for the 99 percent’, shows that the gap between rich and poor is far greater than had been feared. It details how big business and the super-rich are fuelling the inequality crisis by dodging taxes, driving down wages and using their power to influence politics. It calls for a fundamental change in the way we manage our economies so that they work for all people, and not just a fortunate few.
New and better data on the distribution of global wealth – particularly in India and China – indicates that the poorest half of the world has less wealth than had been previously thought. Had this new data been available last year, it would have shown that nine billionaires owned the same wealth as the poorest half of the planet, and not 62, as Oxfam calculated at the time.
While certain members of the mainstream media are fixated on President Donald Trump’s tweets, one story written by MSM may have flown under the radar. The Free Thought Project has consistently reported the safety of marijuana, its uses, and its benefits.
However, the federal government, state governments, and local governments, all continue to lock away otherwise law abiding citizens for using, and sharing marijuana. Now, one member of the mainstream media is starting to sound a lot like The Free Thought Project. Vox, in its article “The 3 Deadliest Drugs in America Are Legal”, written by German Lopez, tells the truth about legal substances which are killing people left and right.’
