Enjoyed this. Amazing how, when worded and presented in his clever way, truth can be readily turned into humour and poli-speak shown to be nothing but rhetoric and perhaps even garbage.
Reminds me of a pinnacle of British satire/humour, “Yes, Minister (Yes, Prime Minister) where politicians and civil servants are satirically shown up to be the hypocrites, charlatans and parasites that they too often are in real life.
” Bernard Woolley: “Well, yes, Sir…I mean, it [open government] is the Minister’s policy after all.”
Sir Arnold: “My dear boy, it is a contradiction in terms: you can be open or you can have government.” [Ref 'http://www.yes-minister.com/ymseas1a.htm#YM%201.1' ]
Sorry, can’t desist.
Like the term “truthful politician”
An oxymoron, because one cannot be truthful and at the same time, perform a political role. (or the other way around). Maybe on occasion, but not in general.
I guess that is why George Carlin is able to find so many examples of politicians avoiding truthful and meaningful answers, (sorry, responses).
The philosopher carries his soul in his head, the poet in his heart, the singer in his throat and the dancer in her body. A politician is a lost soul and without voters, a mere scam.
“the dancer in her body” – and his.
